Located a short 45-minute ferry ride from Singapore, the two islands of Bintan and Batam in the Riau Archipelago offer golfers a wide choice in fine golf courses.
Mainly because of its many white sandy beaches on its northern shores, Bintan surely is popular with golfers who are looking for the right combination between tropical holidaying and golfing on lovely and challenging golf courses.
Four enchanting golf courses make Bintan a genuine golf destination, with two of them – the Ian Baker-Finch designed Woodlands course and the Jack Nicklaus designed Seaview course – located at the Bintan Lagoon property.
The third course is called Laguna Bintan and it offers an 18-hole layout designed by Greg Norman. The Ria Bintan Golf Club offers play on the 18-hole Ocean Course and the 9-hole Forest Course, both designed by Gary Player.
Batam is synonymous with Fun with a capital F. You could say that both Bintan and Batam became the playground for the well-to-do from Singapore and beyond, but distinctly for different reasons.
Although Batam lacks a lifestyle resort like the Bintan resorts, the island offers enough attractive places to stay & play.
From Jakarta it’s just a short one hour and twenty minute flight to Batam. The island is also reachable by way of a 45-minute ferry ride from Singapore.
The courses that can be played in Batam are Padang Golf Sukajadi, Tering Bay Golf & Country Club, Palm Springs Golf & Beach Resort, Southlinks Country Club, Indah Puri Golf Resort, Batam Hills Golf & Resort and the 9-hole Tamarin Santana golf course located right next to the jetty where the ferry from Singapore arrives.
