Among Jakarta golfers the Bumi Serpong Damai is commonly referred to as BSD. It is situated alongside the impressive Cisadane River that is back-dropped by the up-market housing estates of Serpong.
Featuring the famous Jack Nicklaus sand traps (some of which are 100 meter long waste bunkers) and plenty of water hazards, this course is tough and has to be played wisely and most certainly patiently.
All of the par 3 and par 5 holes are terrific, with the par 3 hole #3 leading the way. Hole #16 is the toughest hole on the course.
To bring the course up to today's standards, a thorough renovation plan was put in place in July 2008. The plan, executed by a Nicklaus design team, upgraded especially the green and bailout areas.
To appreciate its quality and to recover from a possible feeling of defeat, BSD is a course you must play more than once.
