All visitors traveling to Indonesia must be in possession of a passport valid for at least six months from the date of arrival and have proof of onward passage. For visitors from 12 (mostly ASEAN) countries there is a Free Visa facility available valid for 30 days. For most other travellers a Visa-on-Arrival can be obtained upon arrival, which is valid for 30 days. The visa fee (US$ 25 for a 30 day VoA) is to be paid in CASH, so make sure you have some cash dollars on hand when you come of the plane. Visa-on-Arrivals can be one-time extended for an additional 30 days at the local immigration office.
If you’re not entitled for Visa-on-Arrival, or intend to stay for an extended period, you will have to apply for a visa at an Indonesian Embassy or Consulate. To find the nearest check the website of the Foreign Affairs department.
